About Safety Harbor
The charming and beautiful city of Safety Harbor has its own unique character and is known or being an artistic community. Safety Harbor is said to have an old Florida feel due to its moss-covered Oak trees and brick-lined streets that make you feel as though you stepped back in time.
It’s also home to the 122-acre Phillipe Park which once was an old plantation that today offers beautiful old Oak trees and other hardwood trees that offer plenty of shade for visitors to picnic, bike or walk along the nature trail. Many families choose to have their phots and wedding photography here because of the park’s outstanding beauty.
Off Main Street in downtown Safety Harbor you will find plenty of small-town shops and eateries for you to enjoy. Several fantastic eateries have opened up here in the recent years such as Pizza Gregarios for an amazing gourmet pizza with owners from Italy and for more of a fine dining experience there is Parts of Paris which offers exquisite French cuisine and has a wonderful happy hour where many of the locals take advantage of their discounted appetizers and cocktail specials.
At the end of Main Street and along the waterfront you will find the Safety Harbor is also home to the famous and historic Safety Harbor Resort and Spa built in 1925 which attracts international visitors and locals alike. The resort has a 50,000-square-foot spa where you can relax with a deep tissue massage and enjoy a gourmet lunch.
The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa often offers special discounts for local residents and opportunities to take advantage of their amenities such as the gym. The resort also hosts several annual gala events throughout the year with live music and food from its fabulous restaurant.
The Safety Harbor Arts and Music Center simply known as “SHAMC” is a funky whimsical spot where creatives gather for art lessons, music concerts, slam poetry readings and other fun events with a robust activity calendar throughout the year. Although it’s a small spot, it has featured many well-known musicians including Tim Reynolds who regularly plays with the Dave Matthews Band. The center also offers a thriving children’s arts and theatre camp as well as Spanish lessons at various times during the year.
